Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) in Miami, FL
Rejuvenation Powered by Your Own Biology
PRP and PRF use a patient’s own blood to support facial rejuvenation and hair loss treatment. At Goldman Dermatology of Miami, we offer both PRP and PRF, as well as PRF EZ-GEL, each serving a specific purpose in your aesthetic treatment plan.
How PRP and PRF Work
The science behind PRP and PRF is simple - we harness your body’s natural healing mechanism to support collagen production. A blood sample is drawn and processed to concentrate platelets, which ultimately release growth factors and cytokines that support tissue repair and collagen production. There is no injection or administration of foreign substances or synthetic materials.
PRF for Facial Rejuvenation
For skin rejuvenation, PRP/PRF's growth factors support improved texture and overall skin quality. Providers often deliver it via microneedling so the plasma can be absorbed through the micro-channels created during the procedure.
PRP for Hair Loss
Providers also use PRP to treat hair loss, injecting it directly into the scalp to stimulate hair follicles and support regrowth in thinning areas, often combined with topical or oral medications for a more comprehensive approach.
PRP vs. PRF
PRP and PRF are related but distinct preparations of a patient's own blood. PRF is processed differently, releasing growth factors more slowly over a longer period than PRP, which releases them more immediately. Our providers also utilize PRF and turn it into a gel-like substance (PRF EZ-GEL) and use this as an alternative to hyaluronic acid fillers. This can be particularly beneficial for patients looking to restore volume in the infra-orbital area or nasolabial folds but prefer a more natural approach.
Who Is a Good Candidate
Skin rejuvenation patients seeking a natural approach
Those experiencing early- to moderate-stage hair thinning
Patients looking to enhance microneedling results
Those who prefer treatment using their own biological material over synthetic alternatives
What to Expect
Treatment starts with a simple blood draw, followed by processing to isolate the platelet-rich portion, which is then applied topically, injected, or used alongside microneedling. Most patients experience minimal downtime, with any redness or swelling settling within a day or two. Most treatment plans involve 3 or more sessions spaced several weeks apart for noticeable results.
